Suzlon Pledges 100% Renewable Power For Manufacturing : Joins Global RE100 Initiative

By Enersider Desk | Pune

In a landmark move for India’s energy sector, Suzlon Group, the country’s leading wind energy solutions provider, has become the first Indian energy company to join the global RE100 initiative. The company has committed to powering all 15 of its manufacturing facilities with 100% renewable energy by 2030. This commitment is a core part of Suzlon’s ambitious decarbonization strategy, which includes achieving carbon neutrality for its direct operations (Scope 1 and 2 emissions) by 2035 and a full net-zero footprint across its entire value chain by 2040.

The RE100 initiative, led by the Climate Group in partnership with CDP, unites over 400 of the world’s most influential businesses committed to 100% renewable electricity. Suzlon joins as the first Gold Member from India, signaling a powerful alignment between its products and its internal operations. Mr. JP Chalasani, CEO of Suzlon Group, stated, “Joining RE100 affirms our belief that leadership in renewable energy begins at home. We are ensuring that every megawatt we produce is backed by a manufacturing process powered entirely by renewables. This is both a responsibility to the planet and a promise to future generations.”

The announcement is backed by significant recent progress. The company reported an 88.51% reduction in emission intensity and an 80.7% surge in renewable energy consumption in FY 24-25. Notably, its rotor blade manufacturing facility in Dhule is already operating on 100% renewable power.

Headquartered in Pune, the Suzlon Group has an installed wind energy capacity of over 21 GW globally. This commitment reinforces its three-decade-long purpose of combating climate change, ensuring that sustainability remains at the core of its operations.
